In recent years, the conversation surrounding mental health has rightfully gained traction, yet one demographic often overlooked is the boychild. While societal norms often dictate that boys should be strong, stoic, and unyielding, the reality is that they too experience mental health challenges, sometimes in silence.

From a young age, boys are conditioned to suppress their emotions, leading to a lack of emotional expression and difficulty in seeking help when needed. Which then manifest in depression, anxiety, and even substance abuse.

One contributing factor is the societal pressure to conform to traditional masculine stereotypes, which can leave boys feeling isolated and unable to express themselves authentically. Moreover, the stigma surrounding mental health within male-dominated environments further perpetuates this cycle of silence and suffering.

Addressing mental health issues among the boychild requires a multifaceted approach. Encouraging open communication about emotions, challenging gender stereotypes, and providing accessible mental health resources are crucial steps in breaking down barriers to seeking help.

It's imperative that we recognize and validate the experiences of boys struggling with mental health issues. By fostering a culture of acceptance and support, we can empower the boychild to prioritize their well-being and break free from the constraints of societal expectations. After all, vulnerability is not a sign of weakness but a courageous step towards healing and resilience.

On 4th June, Sultan Empire's C.E.O, Prince Cloudy de SultanĀ was honoured to be part of the 'Boychild Initiative Campaign' hosted by Umoja Fighting Against Poverty C.B.O at Tulia Moyo Hall, Likoni, targeting a good number of boys in schools; Tulia Moyo, Valentine's and South Gate schools.

In attendance was the Deputy O.C.S Inuka Police Station and Office of the Children's Department Inuka Police Station.
